The Uyo Young Climate Activists Hangout 1.0 was a collaborative event organized by the Safe Space Development Foundation (SHADEF) and Bluegreen Initiative to bring together young environmental and climate advocates from Uyo and surrounding communities.
The gathering created a welcoming space for young people passionate about environmental justice to learn, connect, exchange ideas, and build relationships that can strengthen collective climate action.

The event featured inspiring conversations and speeches from experienced climate leaders, who shared their personal journeys, challenges, lessons, and successes in environmental advocacy. Their experiences encouraged participants to recognize the importance of persistence, community engagement, and youth leadership in addressing the environmental challenges affecting their communities.
Beyond the learning sessions, participants took part in eco-friendly interactive games that encouraged teamwork, creativity, and connection. The hangout also provided valuable networking opportunities, allowing young activists to share their experiences and concerns about local environmental issues, exchange ideas, and explore opportunities for collaboration.

As the first edition of the Uyo Young Climate Activists Hangout, the event marked an important step toward building a stronger and more connected community of young climate advocates in Uyo. It fostered a sense of belonging among participants and reinforced the idea that meaningful environmental action is strengthened when young people come together, learn from one another, and collectively advocate for a healthier and more sustainable future.
